Sampler (England or United States)

This is a Sampler. It was embroidered by Mary Cox. It is dated 1816 and we acquired it in 1970. Its medium is linen, silk, and cotton needlework on linen ground with paper backing and its technique is pattern darning, chain, satin, knot and cross embroidery stitches on plain weave ground. It is a part of the Textiles department.

This object was bequest of Emily Coe Stowell. It is credited Bequest of Emily Coe Stowell from the Coe Collection.
