Chris Timpson is a British sound designer who specializes in 3D audio mixing and sound for multi-speaker systems and headphones. He studied Business Management at King’s College Taunton, graduating in 1997 then received his honors Bachelor of Art from King’s College London. In 2011 he founded EarFilms, a company that creates immersive storytelling experiences through 3D audio. EarFilms audiences sit blindfolded in a sphere of speakers which play a live narration, inspiring imagination and reimagining the storytelling tradition. Earfilm’s main production, To Sleep to Dream won the 2013 Argus Angel Award for Artistic Excellence. In 2015, Timpson co-founded Aurelia Soundworks, a sound design firm that produces audio for digital media, film, and installations. Timpson produced sound for The Met’s first 3D audio installation Visitors to Versailles (1682-1789) in 2018.
