Michael Engelmann (1928 - 1966) was a graphic designer born in Prague, active mainly in America and Germany. Self-trained, his first commission was for International Textiles Magazine in Amsterdam (1949). Later, a project for American cultural authorities brought him to Munich, where he designed posters for exhibitions featuring German stage design and American architecture. In 1950, at just 22 years old, Engelmann was recognized for his graphic work in Gebrauchsgraphik Magazine. Two years later he was working in Milan, designing posters for clients including Pirelli.
