Jan Lievens
Jan Lievens was a Dutch painter, draughtsman and printmaker. His work has been compared to that of Rembrandt, with whom he associated closely between 1625 to 1631. Lievens’s early work shows a similar style to that of Rembrandt, but his late work employs more of the international Baroque style favored by his aristocratic patrons. He became a renowned portrait painter and draughtsman, and his drawings include some of the finest examples of 17th-century Dutch portraiture in the medium.
